The start to any great clothing design is GREAT artwork. But it’s important to remember that the quality of your print—whether for custom t shirts or band t shirts—can only be as good as the quality of the artwork file that creates it. We recommend spending the time on getting your artwork file right to ensure that it prints exactly as you want it.

Let us help you make great designs, we can either create a custom design for you or recreate a design you provide. To help minimize any art charges, the file you provide must be either vector art or a high resolution raster file which has been color separated. If you don't know what that means don't worry....It's OK. Send us what you have and we will let you know how we can make it work. Even if it is a hand drawn sketch we have worked with those before and transformed them into great clothing designs! We will meet with you to review your design ideas and help select color options, fabrics, and printing techniques to aid in customizing your design so it's uniquely yours.

By Red Dots Design we use Affinity Designer - design software - so we can take most formats, but It's usually better to send the original working file, rather than an exported image such as PNG or JPEG. The artwork set-up methods change depending on the printing process and a more detailed explanation of preferred formats will be provided when we`ll start working together.

Do you only have access to a low-resolution JPEG/image file that you wish to print from? No problem, we offer a complete in-house artwork redraw service at competitive rates. Simply email us via the online quote form and include any low-resolution/reference images you have that you wish to get redrawn, and we will come back to you within 24 hrs.

Re-creating Artwork
Do you need physical copy of your artwork digitised? We can recreate/redraw and digitise your artwork making it ready for printing. We’ll also give you a digital copy for future use.
Layouts & Artwork Placement
Not sure about where to place your logo? We can help you achieve the best and most effective placement of your artwork and, for every order you’ll be provided with a visual proof that will detail exactly how the final results will look prior to commencing bulk printing to ensure there are no surprises.

Work Around’s
If your artwork is simple, and can be created in a minimal amount of time, there may be no need for additional artwork costs. If you only require text, or the image/logo is simple and made up of less than 4 solid colours we may be able to digitise your artwork without excess additional effort. Complex images (such as photos or detailed artwork) or images that are low resolution, pixelated or unintentionally blurry will need to be quoted including additional artwork costs. If you require any changes or additions to be made, the same “15 minutes or less” rule applies.

Artwork in Four Steps
Want an easy-to-understand guide about how to get your artwork to us and what we need? Easy. Follow the below instructions and everything will be sorted.

1. Create your artwork
This part is crucial. Please ensure that you are totally happy with what you will be giving to us. We can advise on how to make any required changes if needed or can occasionally work some magic on sub-standard artwork, but as a rule of thumb we can’t work miracles. If your artwork is bad, your printing results will be equally as bad, but we’re here to help whenever you need guidance in getting your artwork over the line.

2. Contact us
Get in contact with us to double-check that your artwork ticks all the required boxes. Explain to us exactly what you’re after with your artwork & how it’s going to be used. We can provide a rough guide over the phone, but we generally require to see any artwork before providing solid information.

3. Send the artwork to us
This is the part where we can personally double-check the artwork against what you’ve told us and give you an OK or not. If your artwork cannot be used, we can provide you with information about how to correct it for printing, or you can entrust us with re-creating it for you for a cost-effective fee. If this is the case you will be informed in detail exactly what will be required to re-create it and how much you will be charged.

4. Double-check
Depending on your scenario, we will either send you back some shiny new completed artwork for you to check out and approve, or a mock-up of your artwork in the positioning you’ve requested. At this point you need to double-check you are totally happy with everything we’ve provided to you, as this is what will be getting printed.
