Our Story

Red Dots Design is our creative project. We make small batches of hand-printed clothing inspired by our surroundings — Dublin city streets, the Irish countryside, science, animals, and even the strange little things that make us think or laugh.

This isn’t mass-produced fashion. It’s personal. It’s honest. And it’s made by two regular people (plus one lazy pug) who just love making art you can wear.

Why Red Dots Design?

When we were brainstorming names, everything felt too complicated — too clever, too branded... We were searching for a name that felt true to what we do. No noise, no polish, just something clear and steady. Someone said, “Something simple… like red dots.”
And that was the moment. It sounded right. It felt right. So, it stayed…
About the three dots?
That’s us: Rudi, Marianna, and Otis — our very round, very grumpy little pug who supervises from the couch.

The dots also nod to what we love: structure, repetition, and small things that matter.    Whether it’s a t-shirt or a poster, that little red dot always shows up somewhere — sometimes planned, sometimes not.

Story behind the Matrix Logo – 42 Little Signals

Our full logo is more than just dots and bold letters. It’s a quiet wink to design lovers — and sci-fi fans, too. Look closely and you’ll find 42 total placements: 30 red dots and 12 letters that spell out RED DOTS DESIGN.

That number? It’s a nod to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where 42 is “the answer to life, the universe, and everything.” We figured — if we were going to design something with structure, rhythm, and meaning… why not slip in a cosmic joke? It’s a perfect match for how we think about our work: a mix of order and mischief. Serious design, not-so-serious attitude.

So yeah — 42. It’s just the right amount of dots and weirdness.
